Eivin Kilcher’s from “Alaska: The Last Frontier”, Wiki-bio, Family, Career.

Eivin Kilcher

Eivin Kilcher shares the same can-do attitude his father, Otto Kilcher, is known for. A self-reliant homesteader, Eivin’s homestead is located half a mile away from his father’s. While Eivin’s wife, Eve, is huge on farming and provides the vegetables from most of the Kilcher’s household, Eivin’s life is centered more around hunting. Similar to his cousin Atz Lee, Eivin relies on hunting to get his family across the cold winters of Alaska. While Eivin acknowledges the risks of hunting and how the lack of game animals in the fall can be problematic for him, he is still determined to live life as a hunter.

Early Life of Eivin Kilcher

Eivin Kilcher was born on the 6th of March 1984 to Otto Kilcher and his second wife Sharon Mckemie. After the divorce of his parents, Eivin stayed with Otto and was raised by his stepmother, Charlotte Kilcher. Raised alongside his siblings Torrey, August Kilcher, and Levi Kilcher, Eivin received the same can-do attitude from his father. He enrolled at Homer High School and graduated in 2001. Like most of the Kilcher children, Eivin never went to college and spent most of his adult life in the homestead.

Marriage and Children:

Eivin met his wife Eve Kilcher during their early years in the homestead. As Eve’s family lived right on the edge of the Kilcher’s homestead, the two families shared a good relationship. After Eve’s parents divorced, Eve moved with her mother Dana Matkin, to Gustavus near Glacier Bay National Park in Southeast Alaska. However, Eve later returned to Homer and the pair went to high school together. After graduation, the pair were separated for a while as Eve went off to University.

As Eve returned to Homer, the pair developed a loving relationship and have been together ever since. They tied the knot in August of 2011 and are currently living in the homestead. In their time together, the pair have two lovely children, a son Findlay Farenorth Kilcher who was born on November 24, 2013, and a daughter Sparrow Rose Kilcher who was born on September 28, 2015.

Homestead life of Eivin Kilcher:

A third-generation homesteader, Eivin is well versed in the life of the homestead. He has embodied the family practice of self-reliance and resourcefulness. By the time Eivin reached adulthood, he knew the ins and outs of winters in Alaska and was one of the best shot at hunting. Eivin began building his homestead with a single cabin and has since expanded the homestead to include a garden which is mostly tended by his wife. But Eivin’s skills are not just limited to hunting, he is also well-versed in the art of welding, knitting, hunting, fishing, excavating, former fire-fighting, slack-line walking, Subaru driving, and knife making. On most free days, Eivin can be found in a little workshop on the back of the house. He also produces a range of knives that can be found on his website. Eivin is also the co-author of the book Homestead Kitchen: Stories and Recipes from Our Hearth to Yours with his wife. While Eve is responsible for providing the recipes, Eivin taught the tricks of foraging and hunting.
