The matriarch of the Brown family, Amora makes sure that everyone in the family has a home to come back to. From enjoying a modern way of life to her marriage to Billy Brown and life in Alaska, Amora has come a long way from her early years. While things have not always been ideal for Ami, she made the best of every situation and made sure that she supported not only her children but also her husband. One of the regular cast members of the show Alaskan Bush People, Amora took a break from the series after being diagnosed with Lung Cancer. Early Life:

Amora Brown was born on the 28th of August, 1963, in Texas. Born to Eugene Branson and Earlene Branson, Ami did not have the best of childhood and grew up in an abusive family. She left her house at the age of 15 and got married to Billy Brown, who was 26-years old during the time of their marriage.

Marriage and Kids:

Ami and Billy first met in 1979. Around the time, Billy had lost his fortune and was traveling from place to place taking up random jobs to earn a living. The duo fell in love at first sight and tied the knot on the 16th of June, 1979. Following his marriage to Ami, Billy decided to look for a stable income and opened a plumbing business. However, he soon grew dissatisfied with the work and decided to search for something new. 

Around the same time, Ami gave birth to two sons, Matt and Joshua Brown. When Matt was around three years of age, Ami and Billy decided to move to Alaska. 

Alaska and TV show:

With no plan and very little money, Ami and Billy had a hard time in Alaska. But regardless, the pair made things work and established a home in Copper River Valley. Ami went on to have five more children Bear, Gabe, Noah, Snowbird, and Rain Brown, all of whom were born and raised in Alaska. Ami also made regular appearances alongside her family in the reality TV series, Alaskan Bush People. 

Battling Cancer:

In early 2017, Ami was diagnosed with the third stage of Lung Cancer. She first realized something was wrong after severe back pain in her body. While she blamed it on her arthritis, the scans showed a little capsule which led to her diagnosis. 

 “We were filming the show and at times it was all I could do to just stand there — I was in so much pain. When we were shooting promo shots I told them, ‘There’s something wrong.'”

After she was diagnosed with Lung cancer, Ami had to undergo chemotherapy and radiation treatment. Even though Ami was given a mere 3% chance of survival she fought cancer and won to a certain extent. As of 2020, Ami revealed that cancer has been in remission and she is close to becoming cancer-free. Ami also revealed that the fans had been the greatest supporters in her battle. 

“People will stop us at red lights on our way in and tell us their whole church is praying for us. I want people to see what a big giant family we feel a part of. The world needs more of that.”

Family Tragedy: Billy Brown Died

In 2015, Billy Brown was reported to have respiratory problems and was treated accordingly. In a couple of episodes in Season 11, Billy was seen having trouble catching his breath. He seems to be out of breath at times despite little to no exertion. Recently during 2019, Billy was again taken to hospital and had some major surgery according to his son Bear Brown. The Patriarch had been in and out of the hospital in the recent years, according to his medical team he was warned about his health and was suggested to move to a lower altitude with good supply of oxygen in the air. Sadly we lost the patriarch of the Brown family on February 8, 2021 at the age of 68 suffering a seizure at his own house.
