Despite being the only son of Bill and Melinda Gates, Rory Gates doesn’t get much of the media attention. While it is mostly due to his parent’s policy to protect their children from media houses, Rory shares the same beliefs when it comes to privacy. Like Bill and Melinda, Rory is incredibly grounded and is not too huge on media attention. The second of the Gates Children, Rory is the most likely to follow in his father’s footsteps in the world of business. In this article, we will take a closer look at the wiki-bio of Rory Gates.
Rory John Gates was born on the 23rd of May 1999 in Seattle. Bron to Melinda and Bill Gates, Rory had a protected childhood. He has an elder sister, Jennifer Katharine Gates, and is followed by a younger sister, Pheobe Adele Gates. Like all of the Gates children, Rory had a quiet childhood. He was not allowed to use cellphones until he was 13-years of age, and was rarely seen on media. As both Bill and Melinda have mentioned in their interviews, all the Gates children had a grounded childhood.
As far as his educational background goes, he attended the Lakeside School before going on to study at Duke University, where he graduated with degrees in computer science and economics. He continued his education and later enrolled at the Fuqua School of Business and to work on his MBA degree.
The next in line:
Both Bill and Melinda have been incredibly open as to how they want to donate all of their wealth to charity, leaving only little for their children. With both of their daughters seeking different professions, Rory Gates seems to be the next in line to join his father in Microsoft. Like Bill, Rory is interested in tech and is keen to join Microsoft after the completion of his studies. While the 21-year old may not succeed Bill right away, it is safe to say that the odds are stacked in his favor.
There are not a lot of people who have not heard of Bill Gates. A regular inclusion in the list of some of the world’s richest people, Bill Gates is best known as the co-founder of Microsoft Corporation. As one of the pioneers of the microcomputer revolution of the 1970s and 1980s, Bill has helped usher in a new age in the field of technology. After leading Microsoft to the forefront of the technological revolution, Bill stepped down from his roles as a CEO and Supervisor and diverted more of his attention to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Melinda Gates has been instrumental in the rise of Microsoft. She supported Bill throughout his career and has helped him both professionally and personally. A former general manager of Microsoft, Melinda stepped down from the executive role after she had children. Since then, Melinda has diverted her attention to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which by 2021 is projected to be the largest donor to WHO. The largest private foundation in the world, the foundation is targeted towards enhancing healthcare and reducing extreme poverty.
