Why Jay Paul Molinere leave Swamp People? Wiki-Bio, Family, Net Worth

The son of veteran swamper, R.J. Molinere, Jay Paul Molinere has become an excellent gator hunter in his own right. From his early days of tagging along with his father to becoming the family’s primary sharpshooter, Jay has had quite the journey. While it is hard to imagine Jay doing anything other than hunting for gators, he had quite a career in boxing. But when things got rough for his father, Jay joined him in hunting for gators. The father-son duo rose to fame following their appearances on Swamp People. While Jay has long left the series, he is still recognized as one of the show’s primary stars.

Early Life:

Jay Paul Molinere was born on the 20th of August, 1988, as “Roland Molinere III ” in Grand Bois, Louisiana, U.S. Born to R.J. Molinere and Stacey Molinere, Jay Paul wanted to be a boxer in his younger years. However, Jay was involved in an accident when he was just 10 years of age. During a family trip, a malfunctioning jet ski rammed into Jay and left him with an 8-inch fracture in his skull. Jay was rushed to the hospital and was in a coma for three days.

Despite his injury, Jay played sports throughout his high school and college years. He attended the South Terrebonne High School and played football four seasons as a defensive back. Following his graduation in 2006, Jay joined Fletcher Technical Community College to pursue an anesthesiology degree. Jay left college in 2011, the same year he was scheduled to make an appearance on Swamp People.

From Boxer to Gator Hunter:

Jay had a good run as a boxer, before making an appearance in Swamp People. With 30 or so fights under his belt, Jay holds the winners’ medal in  Gulf Coast Boxing Championship in 2008, Golden Gloves Division Championship in 2009 and, Arnold Sports Festival Championship in Columbus, Ohio in 2010. Jay was also awarded a $2,000 scholarship by the Columbus Rotary for boxing excellence.

Things changed for Jay in 2011, when he and his father were asked to join the cast of Swamp People. A sharpshooter, Jay had trained alongside his father R.J. and had rarely missed a gator hunting season. So, when the chance came to showcase their skills on national television, Jay jumped at the chance. For the first six seasons on the show, Jay and RJ focused on Houma, Louisiana, but moved to Violet, Louisiana for seasons eight and nine.

Leaving the show:

Jay left the series after the ninth season. While no official statement was issued by the History Network, Jay later revealed that he had left the show to focus on a new business he had started alongside his father. The pair established the company Rising Sun Bowfishing and Swamp Tours and took folks on tours around the bayou.

Personal Life:

Jay Paul is in a happy relationship with his girlfriend, Ashleigh Price. While the pair are yet to tie the knot, they are proud parents to four children, Jayden Molinere who was born on April 14, 2009, A’niyiah Nikole Molinere born on July 29, 2013, a baby daughter Enleigh Jay, who arrived in 2018 and a boy Kai Roland who was born on Dec 23, 2019.
