The Hoffmans were the undoubted star of the first few seasons of the reality TV series, Gold Rush. When the series first began airing in 2010, the producers focused on the Hoffman family, at the center of which was Jack Hoffman. A veteran miner, there are a few things that escape Jack. While there is little that escapes Jack’s keen eyes, he has had his taste of both soul-crushing failures and insurmountable success. While Jack would want nothing better than to work in the mines, he has been forced out of commission due to his health. Even though his son, Todd Hoffman, stands at the helm of the Hoffman crew, Jack is very much the advisor and has been an integral part of the way the Hoffman crew set up. In this article, we will take a closer look at the wiki-bio of Jack Hoffman.
Early Life of Jack Hoffman:
Jack Hoffman was born on September 15, 1947 in Portland, Oregon. Jack spent most of his early life exploring the outdoors. Little is known about Hoffman’s early life and the veteran star has not shared many details about his academic qualifications. Right after his marriage, Jack enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. Upon his return to the United States, Jack started working as a bush pilot.
Gold Mining journey of Jack Hoffman:
Even though Jack continued his work as a bush pilot, he always dreamt of working as a gold miner in Alaska. In the 1980s, Jack traded his place in the sky for a place in the mines and started hunting for gold. His early endeavors were not successful and Jack could never get things right. After failing miserably at gold mining, Jack packed his bags and could not come past the guilt of having let his family down.
After his first failure, Jack put his mining dreams to the back of his head until his son Todd came along. In 2010, Todd decided to give his father’s dream a new lease of life and started gold hunting in Alaska. This time, Jack finally realized his lifelong dream of mining for gold and since has achieved massive success. He also made an appearance in Gold Rush the same year and continues to be an integral cast member of the series. Jack also owns and operates a YouTube channel under the name, No Guts, No Glory.
Jack suffered from back pain from his early days as a bush pilot and could not come out of it for years. He started taking high doses of narcotics that would leave him too foggy to either fly or ride on a bike. Even after Jack began appearing in Gold Rush, he continued to take high doses of narcotics. However, things changed for Jack after he met up with Dr. Martin Baggenstos, a neurosurgeon at The Oregon Clinic. According to the suggestion of his doctor, Jack underwent spinal cord stimulation and has since lived pain-free. While the spinal cord stimulation implant alleviated Jack’s pain, he has taken a step down from mining and is currently focusing on his hobbies.
“I don’t have any pain. I enjoy life. I’m clicking along at 72 right now and my family lives pretty long. My parents lived well into their 90s. I don’t expect anything different.”
A veteran miner is survived by his wife Georgia Hoffman, who has been the strength behind the Jack Hoffman’s journey. Although Jack has kept his personal life out of media, we some how came to know that Jack and his wife Georgia met during their teenage, and they started to date each other when they were in high school.
Soon the love birds exchanged the secret vows and became soulmate with a beautiful family with two children son Todd Hoffman and daughter Tamra Hoffman.
