Early Life of Shane Kilcher:

Born on the 5th of May, 1971, Shane Kilcher is the eldest son of Atz Kilcher and Lenedra Caroll. Even though Shane was born in Idaho, his parents moved to Alaska when Shane was relatively young. Raised in the family homestead in Homer, Shane had to adjust to the homestead life unlike his siblings, Atz Lee Kilcher and Jewel Kilcher, who were born in Alaska. Shane had a tough upbringing as a young kid and was subject to regular physical and verbal abuse from his father. The abuse escalated after Atz’s divorce with Lenedra.

Homestead and The Last Frontier:

Ever since Shane was young, he was responsible for a host of things around the house and adapted well to the homestead life. He began making regular appearances on Alaska: The Last Frontier and has been a regular cast member since the show began airing on the 29th of December, 2011. However, around the sixth season, things got bad between Shane Kilcher and his family which ultimately led him to leave the show. Over the years, Shane has also worked with several social organizations and was a part of the Clearwater Project from 1997 to 2010.

Marriage and children:

Shane Kilcher met his wife Kelli Kilcher during high school and the pair have been together ever since. The high school sweethearts eventually tied the knot in June of 1992. His wife, Kelly is originally from Anchorage who continued her education even after her marriage to Shane. Unlike her husband, Kelli graduated from Maric College in 1999 and holds a professional nursing license. Since their marriage, the pair had four lovely children Keena Tarik Kilcher, Jareth Kilcher, Reid Kilcher, and Jenna Kilcher. While Shane and Kelli were a regular part of the series for long years, their children were never featured on the show.

Leaving the show:

Even though Shane was a regular member of the series ever since 2011, he recently departed from the show. Shane and Kelli were last on the show in 2017. While the pair departed from the show, the reasons behind their departure were never revealed to the media. After the departure, Kelli tweeted,

“What do the younger tv audience want to see on a homestead show? My thoughts of course go to alternative building and showing it’s possible to build yourself a beautiful home. We have plans for a mass heater and sod roof this summer! But what do I know!.”

This led fans to assume that the pair did not agree with the show’s creative direction and ultimately left the show. Following the departure, Shane and Kelli have built a homestead near their family home.
